Coyote and Mule Attack

In a moment they were out onto the cleared earth and ran with all of their power and with all of their agility. Then Coyote was far out on the openness of the meadow with the sky and light above. He ran and his heart pounded in his chest and he saw them larger and he saw the red-hat human and that they were looking at their scrolls and all around the sky was the best blue. Coyote pushed his feet down and pushed hard off the earth. Then he was past the beast flying the last few lengths knocking them over and racing back, the two of them, looking for the necks. The face of the human in the red hat whose stick was always furled looked up just as Coyote sank his teeth.
